Sugar Dog Premium Maple Syrup from Chirip Syrup located at The Farm at Gnome Hollow in Newton, NJ. The owner, Andy, named this "Sweet, Dark and Strong" maple syrup after his Black Labrador Retriever, Raider! Around the farm, Raider is known as the “Sugar Dog” because he is always in the Sugar House cleaning up the drips of syrup that hit the floor during the boiling process. We also love using this variety of syrup because it's harvested later in the season when the sugar content of the sap is lower and contains more minerals.
